Slat-back chairs made in Philadelphia and the Delaware River Valley exhibit certain regional characteristics that set them apart from their New England counterparts, such as slats arched on the top and bottom edges, pointed bulb finials, plain tapered stiles, ball-and-double-vase-turned front stretchers, and ball-and-reel feet.
