With its prominent fan-carved crest rail, lower-rail lunette, vase-shaped bannisters, and ball-and-reel finials, this rurally made armchair blends salient elements of the new Baroque style into a traditional spindle-turned chair. The large fan-shaped crest rails often occur in New Hampshire chairs of this period.
