Architect Warren Platner collaborated with Knoll International on his wire furniture from 1963 to 1967. Platner's design was preceded by the metal wire chairs of Harry Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames, but unlike the earlier chairs, the entire form of Platner's is of wire. There are fewer welds because of the continuous vertical wires that are tied like sheaves of wheat.
