Following their market appearance in 1956, this chair and ottoman became the preeminent status symbol in interior furnishings. This example was purchased by the original owners for a house they built between 1957 and 1959 near Pasadena, Texas. Features of its early production date are the shiny leather and the single-piece rosewood veneers.
