As with Donald Judd's Minimalist sculptures, this desk and chair rely upon repeated geometric forms and industrial materials. The dimensions of the commercially available pine boards dictate the scale of the elements, and the only decoration is the play of light and shadow across the exposed wood grain. Judd had many of his furniture designs professionally manufactured, but this desk and chair is one of only four that were handmade at Judd's studio in Marfa, Texas.
