Side Chair

Chairmaking was a major industry of the Shakers, and the slat-back chair was one of the chief forms they produced and marketed to the outside world. Shakers also made slat-back chairs for use within their communities. This chair is one such example, having been used within the community at Enfield, Connecticut.
